Steve Wren is the Franchise Whisperer and has a great love for " retailing " for the franchising industry.

Steve’s story starts as a young guy who left school and worked for the local Italian “Fruit & Veg” shop learning the ropes from the “grass roots”. Then followed stints at the Post office, a Perth Department store and wholesale electrical goods, before Steve moved into the hardware business joining Bunning’s in 1975.

 

After 7 years learning the hardware business, Steve joined National retailer BBQs Galore in 1982. After developing many skills in retail operations and enjoying a career of success and achievement it resulted in Steve becoming State Manager for WA and SA until 1993. Around this time Steve  went out on his own and he and wife Kaz, opened their own retail business and operated this until 1995 when Steve joined Wesfarmers Kleenheat Gas in Perth.

 

After working in most states for Wesfarmers and growing significant retail business, Steve became Franchise Manager responsible for 75 outlets Australia wide. Steve left Wesfarmers Kleenheat Gas in 2004 to establish his own franchise consultancy in Melbourne, The Franchise Doctor. Being retained by Wesfarmers as a consultant was evidence of Steve ability in franchising. Recent roles , were National Franchise Manager for Smart Saver money saving coupons based in Melbourne and then as the National Franchise Development Manager for Sydney based Café2U, the world’s largest mobile coffee franchise with 109 Van in Feb 2008.

 

Steve is a true franchise expert and has every right to call himself “The Whisperer”
